We are delighted to present a great joint exhibition with collector Laisvydas Liaudanskis. One spring day, Laisvydas contacted the museum and offered to consider exhibiting his extensive and valuable collection. It is a great pity that we do not have the space to be able to show our visitors all of Laisvydas' incredibly interesting and valuable board game collection. We had to discuss and come up with ideas of what exactly we could display. As summer is the season of travel, we decided together that this topic would be the right one for those who want to look around old games on travel and transport.
This exhibition presents nine board games that have been selected by the collector in an attempt to highlight their uniqueness. The collector himself says that he has been interested in historical objects and collecting them since he was a child, but the idea of collecting board games came to him in 2011, when he noticed that these games were not only collectible because of their age, but also because they were interesting in terms of their design, their content, and the inventory of the games that made up the set. The prices of old board games can range from tens to thousands of dollars, depending on the state of preservation, the number of editions and the collectors' financial means.
We invite you to visit the museum and enjoy the old board games, learn about their uniqueness and Laisvydas Liaudanskas' collecting experience.
The illustrator of the exhibition – Ieva Stankutė.
The exhibition will run until 8 October 2023.
